Sent: Sat 12/03/11 11:16 PM Dear Ms. Adrienne, I have been a big fan of your dogs ever since 2006 when I first saw a pic of Achilles on your home page. I know you don't remember me however, I am the guy who would email you every day for advice on dog training specifically American Pitbull Terriers. I wanted a puppy so bad however, because I was in college, funds were limited. Just recently, I rescued an APBT from an animal shelter who had been abused and needed a second chance. She was a puppy approximately 11 weeks when I brought her home. I took her to work with, me as of now I am a group leader at the Boys and Girls Club, and she was a hit. The kids loved her and she loved the kids. Well one lady came in with her dog not on a leash and untrained and the dog walked into the facility. Out of nowhere my brand new puppy due to its genetic makeup and senseless behavior on the previous owners part attacked the other dog. Now, I don't fault the dog at all. However, I am more upset at the way society has placed this horrible stigma on the APBT knowing centuries of breeding have caused this. Kids screamed in horror and I felt so bad and what's worst the lady blamed the puppy because of what it is instead of looking at the situation from a different stand point. I want to talk to my children again and even send an apology letter to the parent. I wanted her not only to give my puppy a second chance but the breed a second chance. Sadly, before I could ask for that chance she died from the wounds given by the other adult dog. I still plan on talking to my kids however, I think I want to do this right this time. Instead of settling on the unknown I want to go back to plan A. To purchase a magnificent Blue Dragon Alaska APBT. I am a little confused by your site. I don't see any of the same dogs I saw in previous years such as Achilles. However, I'm sure (because your so passionate about the breed) the dogs you have their now are just as marvelous as they once were. So if its not to much to ask I would like to know what steps to take as far as choosing which dams and sires I would like the puppy to come from. Also, once again I am asking for your advice. I understand the nature of the breed however, because I work out of an open facility and I do much show and tell along with the kids who bring their pets I would like to choose a puppy whose parents are maybe not as dog aggressive as I've seen in recent years searching. I know this email is long and a bit confusing but know that my heart is pure along with my intentions. I am also a fellow dog rescuer. Thank you so much for even reading this, Carlton |

Good afternoon Adrienne, I just wanted to drop you a line first to say what incredible animals you have. My family and I have always had these animals as part of our family since my wife and I married 25 years ago and I have always had one at my side, and my mother grew up on her family farm in north Florida and always had them, and my father also always had them when he was alive. We have two females that come from some well known lines and they have both been with us since they were 8 weeks old. They have been raised in our home with our two daughters and have been inside dogs their entire lives. My children are now both in college and their friends will come visit the dogs when they come home from school on break. As our two girls age (11 and 12) we know that some time in the future they will no longer be with us, so we started looking around and of course are very disappointed with the whole “Bully” turn that breeders seem to be taking their dogs down. We are looking for the, what we believe to be “standard original American Pitbull Terrier” look and build. We are also looking for a line of dogs that are well socialized that we don’t have to be afraid to take out of the house. All of our dogs have been socialized with everything thing from hamsters to cats to other dogs and people, and we believe we can take them anywhere. We have a 4 year old male (fixed) cat that we found as a kitten on the side of the road many years and he thinks he is a dog and I believe the dogs think he is a strange looking dog. I was also a K-9 officer for 3 years and bring that experience with the life long experience of my commitment to this incredible breed. In my mind there is no finer animal. I just wanted to introduce myself and to let you know that we will be contacting you in the future. Thank you for all that you do for this wonderful breed. William C. - Maryland/DC |
